Oriental Inspiration

I loved putting this layout together.  I started with the photo and then built up the page around it.   I used the lanterns in corresponding colours and raised them up on foam tape to give a bit of dimension to the finished page but kept to a simple layered layout.  The girl in the photo is one of the temple girls at the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia where they filmed Tomb Raider.

Count down to Christmas

I've made an advent calendar this year for the first time from a blank mdf advent calendar set from Pink Tulip Creations Ltd and two of the Graphic 45 Christmas paper collections, Nutcracker Sweet and Christmas Emporium.  The centre scene is three dimensional and was also cut out of the two paper collections to give a real Christmas past meets Christmas present feel to the project.

Happy paper crafting everyone :-)

The two paper lines, Bird song and A Ladies Diary are being featured on Create and Craft during their VIP feature.  Here's a quick look at the samples I made for the shows:

Bird Song Chopstick Gift Box

How gorgeous are these papers.  This was the first altered project I made from them and loved it.  A lacquered chopstick gift box in true Chinese style.  The box was made from chipboard pieces stuck together  with card stock tabs, painted black, glossed using the Decoupatch Glossy Glue to give it that authentic look.

Altered Halloween Printer Tray

I thought I'd alter one of the small Tando Creative printer trays into something spooky for halloween.  These trays are really cute and don t take too long to alter either.

I used the top layer of the chipboard tray as a template for the paper inserts for each section, which I cut out and then stamped individually.  Once I'd stuck all the tray layers together, added the back and painted the whole thing black, I added some versamark and WOW! halloween glitter to the top edge to give the piece a spooky sparkle.
